How will it work?

The course will meet for three online sessions on Wednesdays:

October 16th, 2024, 1:00-3:00 EST

October 23rd, 2024, 1:00-3:00 EST

November 6th, 2024, 12:00-3:00 EST

Each class will provide time for an informal Q and A. The Zoom sessions will be video-recorded and made available to participants unable to attend the sessions.

Your Instructors

Carol-Anne Bush

Carol’s work is grounded in K-12 education experience spanning three continents and over three decades. After a long teaching career in the United States, the United Kingdom, and South Africa, she served in various leadership roles, including multiple assistant headships. Carol’s expertise includes student, teacher, and parent mentorship; stakeholder communication; curriculum design; and whole-school strategy and steering. 

Carol partnered with Laurie Faith and Peg Dawson to co-author Executive Function Skills in the Classroom: Overcoming Barriers, Building Strategies (Guilford Press, 2022). She is currently working with Drs. Adele Diamond and Laurie Faith on another teacher-facing resource for the early years – a practical book that will help to explain the developing EFs at the root of common behaviors and provide research-based suggestions for how to support optimal learning. In addition to her writing endeavors, Carol is an executive function coach in San Francisco, California. She holds an MA and is a certified ADHD educator from the Professional Education Systems Institute and has undergone coach training from Peg Dawson & Richard Guare. Carol continuously works with adults, children, and other coaches to learn about the impact of EFs on performance and develop supportive and compensatory approaches. Lisa Kennedy

Lisa earned her Master’s Degree in Clinical Psychology with an emphasis in Marriage and Family Therapy from Pepperdine University in 1997.  Prior, Lisa earned her BA in Psychology from the University of Colorado, Boulder in 1994. Lisa is the parent of one active teenager and two college students! She is an LMFT in the states of CO and CA, and is a certified ADHD-CCSP and EF Coach, having trained with Peg Dawson and Richard Guare.  She is an involved Volunteer with both National Charity League and Young Men’s Service League,  and is a dedicated Volunteer for her local community and community schools.  Lisa has an extensive background working with individuals with ADHD and family systems where the diagnosis or behaviors have made an impact.  She loves helping students and adults achieve their true and full innate potential. Lisa has incorporated Executive Function Coaching into her private practice and enjoys the work profoundly.  Lisa currently works with high school and college students, as well as adults to explore their strengths and weaknesses in EF. She also offers parent coaching as well as family intervention around the diagnosis of ADHD and other neurodiverse diagnoses.  Lisa enjoys helping her clients to set goals and work hard to achieve them to move their lives forward in a positive direction both academically and professionally.  As a lifelong learner, Lisa enjoys being connected with others in this exciting and growing field and sharing experiences via both colleague consultation as well as being a hired mentor for new coaches looking to expand their current profession.  Lisa’s website.

Kelly Norman

Kelly has spent the last 25 years as a dedicated child advocate with an uncompromising focus on the individual needs of each unique learner. For over a decade, she served as both an Intervention Specialist and Special Educator in the public school system in New Jersey. In addition to teaching, she has worked in various school settings, serving as a reading interventionist, professional development provider, middle school team leader, executive function and study skills course instructor and parent volunteer. Kelly has worked privately with many students with diverse learning needs across multiple disciplines throughout her career. Through this work, she realized she was most passionate about helping students use their unique wiring and strengths to overcome barriers and develop personalized systems to reach their goals. With a vision of igniting and propelling as many young people as possible, Kelly launched EF Advocates, an executive function coaching business based in Chapel Hill, North Carolina. EF Advocates serves clients locally, nationally and internationally and provides one-to-one client coaching for students and training and mentoring services for professionals seeking to become executive function coaches.

Kelly has trained with Peg Dawson & Richard Guare, is an ADHD-Certified Educator from the Professional Education Systems Institute and holds a dual master’s degree in Elementary Education and Special Education. Her website is www.efadvocates.com
